Kilian Jornet joins Kotcha as athlete founder to share his experience to trail runners of all levels

The mountain athlete is helping shape the philosophy and training approach behind the app alongside Eliud Kipchoge, with a vision based on consistency, adaptation, recovery and long-term progression

Kilian Jornet joins Kotcha as athlete founder, becoming part of a project that aims to transform the way runners experience training: with greater awareness, stronger support and a long-term perspective.

Kotcha was born with a clear mission: to contribute to a healthier society; physically, mentally and socially, through the power of running. The app is built around a simple yet ambitious idea: find the best runners on Earth, study how they train, break it down, and hand over the playbook so millions of runners can outrun themselves. In just a few months, Kotcha has already put Kipchoge's method into the hands of more than 50,000 runners.

Kilian Jornet’s arrival at Kotcha is not a one-off collaboration or a simple endorsement of a training app. He joins the project as athlete founder, bringing his experience, learnings and way of understanding performance as a long-term process, one in which body and mind, effort and recovery, ambition and listening must coexist.

"After many years of training, racing and learning from my body, I wanted to help build a tool that supports runners in a more thoughtful way. Training should not be about copying someone else, but about understanding yourself better. Kotcha is a way to share some of the principles that have shaped my own training — consistency, adaptation, recovery and long-term progression — so that more runners can apply them to their own journey,” explains Kilian Jornet

The project began to take shape around a shared conviction: training needs structure, but also flexibility; data, but also judgement; ambition, but also patience. This vision connected from the start with Eliud Kipchoge and his team, with whom Kotcha started to take shape in Kaptagat, Kenya, one of the most symbolic places in endurance running.

“We are delighted to welcome Kilian to Kotcha alongside Eliud and the DSM Firmenich Running Team. We are passionate about building an app that can help millions of runners around the world. Kilian has been a relentless student of our sport and his body, and brings a unique perspective to Kotcha. Beyond his expertise, we share the same vision for our sport and how Kotcha can help runners around the world." says Ben Dupont, CEO of Kotcha.

Kilian Jornet’s involvement now broadens that perspective towards trail running, the mountains and endurance sports in changing environments, where adaptation, effort management, recovery and decision-making are essential. His vision reinforces one of the project’s central ideas: there is no single way to train, nor a universal formula that can be applied equally to every runner.

“Kotcha should not replace intuition, experience or connection with the body. It should help people train with more awareness, structure and perspective. For me, that is the value of the project,” says Jornet.

With this addition, Kotcha strengthens its ambition to build a more human, connected and accessible training experience. A proposal that does not understand running simply as a series of sessions or results, but as a shared journey of learning, health and growth.
